Ohh by the way galley girls are ranked 2nd fastest in Canada for 500 meter !!!!!
Hello Canada , galley girls HAULED ASS in the 500 and ranked 4th in the whole world!!!!!!!!!! Wwwwooooooooooooo the girls raced three times, first race they came 1st with a time 2 mins and 8 seconds, their second race they came 3rd with a time of 2 minutes and 7 seconds (right behind china), the second race and time put them in the A finals ( wholy shit A). for their final 500 meter race against the two china teams ( all military and farming women who are all tanks) the galley girls came in 4th with their personal best time of 2 minutes and 5 seconds. It was like they had a motor on the back of their boat and they kept up with the china teams so well. The older mommas of one china team got a time of 2 minutes for their 500 meter!!!!
After their final race the girls definatly got their drink on ALL night long!!! I think some are still drunk this morning!! A well deserved celebration for sure!!!!
Today everyone is off on their own ways as they now go for their week vacation!!! I on the other hand am heading home to Ottawa to upload pictures for everyone!!!

Hello
Today is Friday morning and the girls have finally gotten their first race gitters out of their system. Yesterday started with a team meeting at 8:30 in the restaurant with coach Bruce giving them a run down of how the race will work. At 12:30 the ladies headed down to the waters to get warmed up. The weather here yesterday was sunny, boiling hot, and no wind, felt like 45C. The galley girls did the 2K race and came 5th out of 14 countries . Their time was 9mins and 45 seconds. China came first with 9 mins and 1 sec, they passed boats like it was no bodies business , absolutly unbelievable!!
I can only get internet through my phone so I will do my best with the following blogs . Today the girls race their 200 meter at 2pm!! All fingers crossed!! Every member on this team is giving their best and says they will paddle until they pass out if that's what it takes!! In fact there were people on other teams who actually did pass out after their race because it was so hot. Not to worry though our girls are well hydrated!
A bunch of us went to the temple here in Macau and were completely blow away with how much insense they has going. Lovely experience though!!
I am passing along all messages from Canada and the girls really appreciate all the support! Please check out the online Ottawa citizien for the little articles being posted along with some pictures. I don't have the link but if you just google Ottawa citizien and then galley girls you should find it!!
Signing off!!

Macau

Hello Canada,
It's a day of rest or recovery for those not feeling well. Last evening found two groups heading in different directions for dinner. One group off for Italian and the other for Buffet "I have no clue what these dishes are, but I'm hungry NOW" at "City of Dreams".
The girls had two practices yesterday one at 10 am and the other at 4pm. AM practice had the girls doing their warm up run in a complete tsmunai down pour. However you could hear nothing but Galley Girls screams "Bring it on". The girls have their first race tommorrow starting with the 2k and Julie has captured the finess of the turns already.

Steph has a slight cold and is getting some extra sleep, while the Crocker's head off to Black Sands Beach. Carol greeting the breakfast staff as they came in for their shift and plans for a full day of nothing but rest (She will probably be out and about). Bruce has the coaches meeting while Ann has had the Dr.Gina visit and has some rest ahead of her as well. Suzie's feeling much better today and the lovely shade of green has faded. Emily is probably wondering if she needs to mention again that it is her bithday again tommorow but we'll all remember regardless. As for my mother and I we are blogging in Hong Kong and about to take on Kowloon shopping. There will be no funky lunch today.

Last Practice On Canadian Waters

The girls finally had their last practice on Canadian waters this morning before their paddles get all dried off and packed up tommorow for the journey of a life time. Their paddles are excited to get their first taste of Macau water on Monday when they dig in for their first practice in the PM.!

Birthday Girl Christine

HAPPY 29TH BIRTHDAY CHRISTINE !!!!!
Christine has always been active in a variety of sports, but dragon boating has found a special place her her heart. An outdoor person at heart, being on the water, training and competing is all so very exciting, but there is much more. Working as a team toward common goals has solidified so many special friendships on and off the water for her.

Who Am I?

I guess I should explain who I am for those following back home. My name is Kiera, 23 years old, and Holly's daughter. I have a cute 8 month old named Oliver who is back home with my handsome partner in crime, Jeremy. Jeremy and I own a couple franchises in Ottawa, Cody Party Merivale & Kanata, Luscious Linen, and Rideau Tents. (http://www.codyparty.com/)
I will be heading to China with the team, but as the girls travel afterwards I will be heading back to my family on the 3rd.

The Packing Begins

3 more days and the "Galley Girls" will be off to the races and flying high in the air headed to the Latitude: 22° 11'North and Longitude: 113° 33'
East coordinates. China is in the Standard time zone:UTC/GMT +8 hours which means they are exactly 12 hours ahead of Ottawa time! We will be arriving to a Hi: 86F Lo:79F and lots of rain. For further basic information about Macau visit: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=754.

Meanwhile the team has been in heavy thoughts about what times they will get in each heat, while my mind is all about "how many shoes can I fit in one suite case", "I hope theres good shopping", and "I can't wait to get my tan on"! JUST KIDDING, I can't wait to watch these amazing ladies take on the best dragon boat teams in the WORLD.............THE WHOLE FREEKING WORLD.....CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??????????? I will be posting every day after the races to update everyone back at home on how well they do. I'm going to try and get photos and video going on here too, so follow along with their journey!
